Kurt Lewis has twenty-eight years of commercial and intellectual property
experience (both litigation and transaction). Born in
Lincoln, Nebraska, he graduated from New Mexico State University
(B.A. in Economics, Beta Gamma Sigma, with Highest Honors, 1978)
and the University of Denver College of Law (J.D., 1981). Kurt was
admitted to the Colorado bar in 1981 and is licensed to practice
before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Tenth Circuits,
the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. District Court, District of Colorado.
He practices in the areas of Intellectual Property; Trademarks; Copyrights; Trade Secrets; Unfair Competition;
Licensing; Commercial Transactions; Entertainment Law and Internet
Law.
Kurt has litigated numerous intellectual property cases including, Silva
v. JWA, and Purebred v. H.J. Heinz, Petsmart
and Petco, which resulted
in a 5.9 million dollar verdict for his client, The Purebred Company.
Kurt taught entertainment law at the University of Denver Law School
and intellectual property law for the Colorado Lawyers for the Arts.
